Musang King was originally known as Raja Kunyit, meaning "Turmeric King", a reference to the fruit's turmeric-colored deep yellow flesh. In the 1980s, a man named Tan Lai Fook from Raub, Pahang stumbled upon a Raja Kunyit durian tree in Gua Musang, Kelantan, Malaysia.
Fumaric acid stabilizes the PH. Durians are Alkaline when fresh and raw but in the dried condition, they become acidic. Freshly raw durians fruits PH about 5-6.5, its bellow of PH 7 so according to PH scale it is acidic but mainly it alkaline in nature, In case of dried condition PH about 3.62-3.84. So it is mainly acidic.
The Durian Whisky, however, is made out of 100% Musang King durian flesh and that doesn’t exactly fit the traditional definition of whisky. The writer at Star2 wrote that a more accurate classification for this drink would be brandy because it’s a more usual term used for spirits that are distilled from fruits.
The merchant added that pricing for musang king now ranges from S$10 per durian for slightly less superior grades of the fruit, to S$10 per kg for the better quality ones.
